Conifer Collection
Conifer Collection
The initial conifer collection at the Iowa Arboretum. Established in 1982, this collection highlights specimens that are best used as specimen trees, in windbreaks, or on larger properties. Most conifers are evergreen, giving an elements of color and texture all year round. This collection also displays deciduous conifers, notably our famous ‘Olga Bay’ Larch (Larix gemlinii var. olgensis), which loses it’s needles in the fall, turning a golden yellow before falling off for the winter.
