The gardens & grounds on the main campus are open to visitors. The woodland trails are also open east of the main campus. The gift shop & visitor center are now open to visitors.

Special events and educational programs are offered throughout the year bringing people of all ages together for social, seasonal, and learning opportunities.


Experience trees, shrubs, and other plants along with wildlife at the Iowa Arboretum.

The Iowa Arboretum, located on 160 acres in Boone County’s Des Moines River Valley showcases hundreds of species of trees, shrubs and flowering plants in a tranquil setting. Woodland and prairie trails provide wonderful outdoor walking opportunities.

Connect with nature that is pure and simple. See butterflies, bees, bats, and beetles. Spot eagles, finches, orioles, and jays. When you are here, you hear nature.
