Fall Education Series- Part One
October 7, 2023 @ 9:00 am - 11:30 am
Join us at the Arboretum on October 7th at 9 a.m. for the first of a four-part “Fall Education Series!” David McKinney, Curator of Collections & Grounds, will be speaking first about the importance of wasps. Many gardeners view wasps as a dangerous, aggressive, and frightening antagonist in the garden. David will shed insight into the vastly ecologically importance of wasps: from pollination to pest control. He will give tips on how to encourage wasps to visit your garden while keeping them from areas where they may pose a threat. Gabbi Edwards, City Forester – Ames will follow David at 10:30 am and will talk about the impact urban trees and green spaces have on those of us who experience them. Spending time outside has proven to improve human health and well-being. She will talk about the impacts, why they happen, and what you can do to create meaningful impact in your area.
Coffee and breakfast pastries are provided!
