DESCRIPTION:Kathryn Severing Fox – Deemed “fiddler extraordinaire” in Cityview Magazine\, Kathryn Fox is a DownBeat award-winning artist. She played on the Grammy-nominated track “All My Tomorrows” with Kate McGarry. Kathryn toured internationally with the fiddle troupe\, Barrage 8\, with shows in Europe\, the U.S.\, and Canada. She has performed\, recorded PBS specials and recorded with George Benson\, The Beach Boys\, The Eagles\, Pharrell Williams\, Gloria Estefan\, Osmond Brothers\, Gloria Gaynor\, Chick Corea\, Bobby McFerrin\, Kenny Loggins\, Mark O’Connor\, Ryan Montbleau\, Seth Walker\, Edgar Meyer\, and Joshua Bell. She gigs regularly with Chad Elliott (Weary Ramblers)\, The Cardinal Sound\, and with various singer/songwriters and bands in and around Des Moines. \nChad Elliott – Midwest singer-songwriter Chad Elliott blends folk roots\, swampy blues\, and soulful writing to deliver an original Americana sound. His live performances have been honed over a decade of being on the road performing more than 200 shows each year. Elliott is lauded as “Iowa’s Renaissance man” by Culture Buzz Magazine. He has penned more than 1\,500 songs in his career while also cultivating his skills as a painter\, sculptor\, illustrator\, and author. \nTickets are free for members and $7 for non-members (can be purchased the day of the event)\nBring your lawn chair. SUMMARY:Paws in the Park!
DESCRIPTION:On Saturday morning\, September 16th\, 2023\, The Foundation for the Boone Area Humane Society will hold its annual “Paws in the Park” 5K run/walk. We invite you\, with or without your four-legged friend\, to take a healthy 5K run/walk on behalf of the Foundation through the beautiful Iowa Arboretum. There will be no group start to the run/walk. Upon registration\, you will be free to begin the course. Registration will be held outside\, weather permitting\, or inside the Cafferty building if raining. Enjoy a refreshment after the race for you and your canine friend. \nRegistration between 7AM – 8AM. The entry fee is $30.00.The fee is $35.00 for registrations received after September11th. \n \nParticipants may also opt to pay the “Lazy Dog Fee” of $30.00 (Stay in bed andstill support the Foundation).  Online registration is available at: getmeregistered.com Registrations before September 11th will guarantee a T-shirt. Walk-in registrations on the day of the event are accepted.
