The Iowa Arboretum Garden Social & Auction will be Friday, May 13, featuring tasty delights, auction, and plant sale treasures. The party provides guests the opportunity to shop early, enjoy food and wine, and support the organization’s valuable work as a leading Iowa collection of trees, landscape plants, and native ecosystems.
The festivities begin at 4 pm at the Iowa Arboretum, 1875 Peach Avenue, Madrid, Iowa with an exclusive opportunity to be the first to see and purchase plants from the Arboretum’s Annual Plant Sale.
Appetizers, light dinner and the silent auction will begin at 5:30 pm. Silent Auction items will include all things garden related and other items gardeners’ desire. At 6:30 p.m., the Live Auction begins with some of the most distinctive plants, gifts and garden décor.
The theme of this year’s Garden Social is “Got Nectar”. Many of the plants offered as auction items are varieties that attract butterflies and other pollinators. Also offered are exclusive items and experiences including a container water garden, artwork by renowned artist Karen Strohbeen, and a pizza dinner for four in a handmade cob oven at the home of the arboretum’s Director.
Tickets are available by calling 515-795-3216 or online. $60 per ticket.
Proceeds from this event will enhance the plant collection at the Arboretum.
