July – December 2013
Celebrate the start of the fall season and take a hike with Mike Havlik, an extraordinary naturalist. He is the Program Director for Environmental Education at the Y Camp in Boone County. Sharpen your own naturalist skills along the way. Enjoy a few songs, lots of laughs, and maybe see a few visiting animals. Fun for the entire family.
In this “make and take” class, families will use fresh cut greens to make something special for holiday décor. Children and their parents will learn how to distinguish between different kinds of evergreens and how to use floral wet foam, wrap, picks, and wire as they assemble the centerpieces. It’s a great opportunity to recall basic elements of design as well experiment with embellishments like ribbons and ornaments. You are encouraged to bring your own clippers and light work gloves.
Sandy Gossman and Nan Bonfils will co-teach.
Fee: $10 per family per class for Arboretum members and $15 per family nonmembers. Click here to Register
