Iowa Arboretum recently was award a grant from the Boone County Community Foundation to upgrade our technology. Thanks to the grant we now have a computer workstation capable of handling our records of the plant collections and linking each plant to GPS coordinates that will be recorded via satellite through 2010. The computer and new software will also allow us to migrate our accession records to our web site, where they will be open to all, and to catalog our thousands of plant photographs and ready them with new software for posting to the site. The Arboretum has long needed backup systems for the data stored on our computer. Now we have redundant backup, with two high capacity hard drives, one that will stay on-site and the other that will stay off site between backups. Thank you, Boone County Community Foundation.
